Adler Student - Tiela Warris
Tiela is a current Masters of Counselling student at Adler University. Starting her journey in Ontario, her passion supporting and empowering women within her community began with facilitating workshops at the YWCA spreading awareness of media literacy and violence against women to young women.
After graduating from the University of Guelph, she picked up her roots and moved to Vancouver to continue her commitment to women by volunteering for Women against Violence against Women’ Rape and Sexual Assault Crisis Line. Building on the skill set gained at WAVAW she started up her educational career once again to study Indigenous Canada at the University of Alberta and a began her Masters of Counselling at Adler University.
With the desire to undertake the systemic challenges clients face in session, Tiela found herself at Women Transforming Cities with the hope of providing empowerment for women through a different modality. With great enthusiasm, she is excited to grow with Women Transforming Cities and give back to her new community.
