Board Member - Lisa Alexis
Lisa is passionate about the City of Surrey and a true BC girl at heart. As a Senior Financial Administrative Specialist she understands numbers, analytics and is an excellent resource for team strategy and implementation. She has partnered with Executives, and Directors in both for-profit and non-profit to refine their processes, increase revenue, impact the community and maximize productivity. It is with this knowledge that she is confident her expertise and passion will be an asset to WTC this next term.
Lisa recognizes the need for forward-thinking and proactive leadership that will contribute to how women adapt and thrive in their communities. She believes all women should have the opportunity to experience a world that sees no gender bias. She is experienced working with Boards and communicating back to its shareholders and donors. She also has participated in planning committees, and preparation and presentation of Annual Budgets including annual Charitable and Corporate Tax returns.
Lisa’s community involvement has included running for Surrey School Board Trustee in 2018 obtaining 19,897 votes as an independent candidate. Previous employment at the YMCA. 10 years assisting in the Corporate Finance/ Wealth Management sector. Her volunteer work includes overseeing finances and fundraising for orphaned children in Zambia with Mercy Touch Mission International, feeding the homeless at Nightshift, helping educational outreach for Women at Pregnancy Options, and coaching with Guildford Soccer Association. Lisa is an advocate for immigrants and refugees where English is a second language. She is registered Metis heritage and is passionate about aboriginal recognition and reconciliation.
She is excited about the opportunity in joining the WTC board to learn from others actively involved in seeing women ‘break through the glass ceiling.’ Participating in programs that empower and encourage all women to reach for their dreams and fulfil their desires potential.
