About The Event

On Jan. 16 the Gender Equality Strategy will go to Vancouver City Council. We hope that women and women’s organizations will go before Council to speak to it. It is an exciting document and motion that will address significant barriers to womens participation in local government. The motion will be part of the Jan. 16 Council agenda online at City of Vancouver Thursday Jan. 11. Make sure you sign up with the City Clerk if you want to speak to the motion and then it will be moved to Jan. 17 so Council can hear from the public.

WTC is hosting a “Learn to Speak Out at a Council Meeting” Workshop on Jan. 13 to review the motion and prepare you to speak out. Former Vancouver City Councillors Ellen Woodsworth and Anne Roberts will lead the workshop session. Registration is on our WTC Facebook Recommended reading on this issue: Advancing Equity and Inclusion
