Today marks the beginning of Gender-based Analysis Plus (GBA+) Awareness Week (November 19-23, 2018) The theme is GBA+ Benefits Everyone, highlighting that when we apply a GBA+ approach, we ensure that benefits are equally enjoyed by everyone — regardless of sex, gender, age, race, rurality, language, ability or any other identity factor.

What is GBA+?

GBA+ is an analytical tool used to assess how diverse groups of women, men and gender-diverse people may experience policies, programs and initiatives. The + in GBA+ acknowledges that GBA goes beyond biological (sex) and socio-cultural (gender) differences and addresses the multiple identity factors we all have, such as race, ethnicity, religion, age and disability.

The work of WTC in Vancouver takes place on the stolen ancestral territories of the xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam Indian Band), Sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish Nation), and səlilwətaɬ (Tsleil-Waututh Nation). We acknowledge the leadership of Indigenous peoples since time immemorial and seek to learn and unlearn our own colonial practices as we work in cities as sites of resistance.
