Hope Hart
She/Her
Hope Oshiro Hart is a community builder committed to advancing inclusive, equitable cities where everyone can belong, participate, and thrive. She is grateful to live on the traditional, ancestral, and unceded territories of the Musqueam, Squamish, and Tsleil-Waututh Nations, and as a settler and third-generation Okinawan-Canadian, she reflects on her role in reconciliation and decolonization in both her personal and community work. In her current work, Hope supports community economic development initiatives and fosters collective action among Downtown Eastside community partners through the Coordinated Community Response Network (CCRN). She believes cities should be created by and for everyone and is passionate about finding meaningful ways for all people, particularly those historically excluded, to participate in civic engagement and decision-making. Her approach is grounded in relationship-building, deep listening, empathy, and pragmatic approaches to collaboration. Hope believes lasting change happens through community connection, grassroots leadership, and collective action, and she is honoured to bring this perspective to the Women Transforming Cities Board.
