new westminster

Iris 鄭心妍 (she/they) is a 2nd gen immigrant settler with familial roots from Hong Kong. She is grateful to live & work as an uninvited guest on the unceded, stolen lands of the Halq'eméylem speaking peoples and strives to be in good relation with the Land and Her stewards.

Iris enjoys asking expansive & open-ended questions around the intersections of how we live and the beliefs that shape us. They are curious about cultivating imagination for safe, inclusive, accountable spaces centered around collective care, rituals & liberation. She has experienced support from LGBTQ+, Neurodivergent & BIPOC communities and seeks to reciprocate abundantly in joyous celebration & mindful lament.

Her work as a Certified Prosthetist has informed Iris’ advocacy for disability justice and accessibility rights, while also holding a critical lens to the frailty of the healthcare system. As Co-Chair of the New Westminster Public Library, they are attentive to how colonial institutions have preserved and shaped selective depictions of history and the transformative power of storytelling and education. Iris is excited to participate in the remarkable work of WTC and build deeper relationships with like-minded folks.
