Sadie Gilker (they/them) is an Interdisciplinary Embroidery Artist and freelance Community Engagement Consultant. They hold a Master's from Concordia University, where they explored performances of violence in public spaces in Northern Ireland from the interdisciplinary lenses of Urban Planning, Performance Studies, and Irish Studies. With a background in research, program coordination, and workshop design, they value education and reducing barriers to knowledge in any way they can.
Sadie is an avid fan of cities and all their textures. They love public spaces and the people who use them. And they are always curious about how to make cities more accessible for everyone, not just a select few. Sadie values collaborative approaches to problem-solving and creating inclusive spaces.
Sadie grew up in Tiohtià:ke/Montreal, Quebec, located on the stolen traditional territories of the Kanien'kéha Nation. They are very grateful to be currently residing on the traditional and unceded territories of the xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam), Sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish), and səlilwətaɬ (Tsleil-Waututh) Nations. Sadie is a settler of Irish, Italian, English, and French descent. They are committed to deepening their learning about colonization/decolonization and dismantling systems of oppression to make our cities more accessible for everyone.
